Welcome!
I am a textile artist based near Dorchester in Dorset. My main aim is to produce everything I make with as little impact on the environment as possible. I have been spinning yarn for over 40 years and dyeing fibre and yarn using natural home-grown plant dyes for over 10 years. Nothing travels more than ½ mile before being sent to you.
My creations have been varied over the years. From beautiful knitted berets and scarves to more colourful homeware and pictures. I love working with sheep fibre and am inspired by the colours and textures in the environment around me. The shop contains materials for you to buy to have a go at spinning and dyeing, as well as things I have already created. Portland fleece is really easy to spin or felt and it holds natural plant dyes really well.
I also want to pass my skills on to others, especially the creation of colour on wool, using natural plant dyes, hence the development of my on-line ‘Dye School’. The aim is to inspire you to grow and/or collect plants from your local environment and use them to colour wool, whilst being eco-friendly. This is one of the reasons it is on-line, there is no need for anyone to travel far to learn, but you can also study at your own pace. I have also contributed articles to national magazines.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Happy Creating!
